The ability to work from different locations, including from home, is not new and is regular practice for many of our services. However, the COVID-19 crisis has pushed teams to adopt remote working as a default right now and we appreciate that working through this rapid change can be hard, but it should also be embraced as a chance for organisation-wide innovation and a great opportunity to expand our capabilities and learn new approaches as an agile workforce of the future.

This learning will help you understand the issues and challenges of working remotely and provide ideas and methods to work through them, as well as help you to think about how you can reap the benefits that working remotely can offer. While this training has been developed to support you to work remotely right now, the skills that you will continue to develop are vital to the Council’s commitment to agile working going forward.

After completing this module, you will be able to:

  • define remote working
  • recognise reasons for the growth of remote working
  • describe the benefits of remote working.

Our working lives have been changing for a while now, as we work more agilely in response to business needs. However more recently, with the emergence of the coronavirus (Covid -19) our working lives have undergone massive changes in our working day, in terms of how and where we can work, creating a level of uncertainty for some and new challenges for many of us.

On this Wellbeing and Remote Working page you will find a number of resources that will support Managers and Staff with their wellbeing and resilience whilst working remotely to include:

  • Remote Working
  • Remote Working for Managers
  • Email stress
  • How to facilitate and attend a conference call
  • Display Screen Equipment
  • Health Lifestyles
  • Mental Health Awareness
